EXHIBITION「Aquatic creatures that swarm on the bottom and surface of the water」

This exhibition features Japanese paintings by Yokoyama Taikan, Ogawa Usen, Kobayashi Sokyojin, Kobayashi Kogaku and others on the theme of fish, water birds and other aquatic creatures.
This exhibition will also introduce you to works by currently active artists Kinoshita Chiharu and Matsuoka Ayumu, including their first public exhibition.

SPECIAL EXHIBITION「Nakaminato Reverberatory Furnace-produced iron and the modern age」

At the end of the Edo period, foreign ships frequently appeared in Japan. In order to prevent attacks by foreign ships, Mito Domain built a reverberatory furnace in Nakaminato, where iron cannons were made. Through documents related to the reverberatory furnace, this exhibition considers the historical role of Mito Domain which contributed greatly to the establishment of modern industry in the Meiji era.
