Beware of Water Accidents!

Water accidents occur every year along the coast of Ibaraki Prefecture.
Rip currents, which often occur around headlands, are especially dangerous.
On Sunday, August 23rd, a serious water accident involving a foreign national also occurred on a beach in Ibaraki Prefecture.
When enjoying the beach and the ocean, please follow these rules:
- Do not enter areas where swimming is prohibited.
- Do not go near the ocean on days with high waves or bad weather.
- Do not swim near headlands.
Please tell your family and friends how to enjoy the ocean safely.
If you see an accident on the beach or in the ocean or someone needs to be rescued, call 118 (Japan Coast Guard) or 119 (Fire Department).
