English Guided Tour of “Museum of SAKE and famous temple in Mito” (The World Youth Communication Club of Ibaraki)

2026/5/9Notice

The Japanese SAKE is becoming quite popular all over the world. Do you know how to make SAKE? We plan to visit the museum of SAKE and UMESHU run by MEIRI SHURUI Co. Ltd. MEIRI SHURUI was founded on the same ground about 160 years ago and has been making SAKE ever since. At the museum, you can taste various SAKE and UMESHU. You can enjoy shopping there, including SAKE lees.
YAKOUIN is a Buddhist temple of the TENDAI sect, located in Motoyoshida-cho, Mito City. The main hall is a national important cultural property, and the NIOUMON gate and the principal image of YAKUSHI NYORAI and the twelve Divine Generals are designated as cultural properties of Ibaraki Prefecture. YAKOUIN was founded in the Enryaku era ( 782 〜 806 ) by the founder of the TENDAI sect, Dengyo Daishi ( SAICHO ) at the request of Emperor KANMU, and it is recorded in the temple history that it was generously protected by the authorities and lords of the time.
