Beware of “Illegal Part-Time Jobs” That Recruit Criminal Offenders
2025/9/22Notice
Thinking “Just once is okay”? Think again.
Even applying once for an “illegal part-time job” can lead to being blackmailed using your personal information. You may be forced to continue until you’re arrested and put you in jail. Selling your bank account or smartphone is also a crime.
“Illegal part-time jobs” are criminal acts.
These jobs are often advertised on social media or internet forums with tempting phrases like “easy money,” “quick cash,” or “get paid today.” But they’re recruiting people to commit crimes. Many who applied thinking “I just want to earn money,” “I’m only holding a package,” or “everyone’s doing it” ended up committing robbery or fraud—and getting arrested one after another. This has happened even in Ibaraki prefecture.
What Happens When You Apply?
- You see a post on social media or receive a direct message and apply.
- You’re asked to send a photo ID with your face.
- You get involved in crimes like robbery or fraud.

You’ll be used and eventually arrested by a police.
Saying “I didn’t know” won’t protect you. You are responsible for the crime.
Be Suspicious of “Easy,” “High-Paying,” or “Instant Cash” Offers!
Job listings with the following traits are likely illegal. Never apply!
- Vague job descriptions and promises of large payments
- No clear company name, address, or contact info of the recruiter
- A Request to install anonymous apps (e.g., Telegram, Signal)
- A Request for personal information or photo ID like a driver’s license
If you feel uneasy about any of the requests, consult the police immediately: Call #9110
