Dog registration and rabies vaccination in Japan
2026/4/15Notice
If you own a dog in Japan, you are required to register your dog and have it vaccinated against rabies every year.
Rabies can infect both humans and dogs. Once symptoms appear, the disease is almost always fatal, making it extremely dangerous.
Although Japan and a few other countries are free from rabies, many parts of the world still experience outbreaks.
To prevent rabies from spreading in Japan, please make sure to complete dog registration and annual rabies vaccinations.
