Special Exhibition: The Centennial of his Death – from the Atelier to the World

This exhibition showcases 120 signature works done by Mito-native painter, Nakamura Tsune. Included in this exhibition is “Portrait of Yaroschenko”, which has been named as an important cultural property. Also featured is Renoir’s “Woman by Fountain”, which had a vast influence on Nakamura.

New Exhibition: Learning from the Past and Thinking about the Future「Why Do We Fall in Love?」

The “Why Do We Fall in Love” exhibition is composed of 50 love stories from ancient times to the present. Historical chapters will give you a different view of love than before. And future chapter will question the nature of love through essays that imagine love 100 years from now.

Special Exhibition: Visionary Scenery – the World of Fujita Shiro

We will introduce the work of a Japanese painter, Fujita Shiro (1951-), who currently resides in Tsukuba. This exhibition highlights his paintings from his early days to modern days.
